What network performance challenges prevent your IT team from providing end users with an optimal experience? In this Wi-Fi Minute, Danny explains a few common problems and how performance monitoring could be the solution that puts your company back on track.

What’s going on everybody?

Welcome to the Wi-Fi Minute where we explain the mysteries of Wi-Fi and networking in under a minute.

Today’s topic, three common performance challenges and how you can avoid them using performance monitoring.

Full disclosure, we’ve got a lot to cover today. We’re going to try to hit it in under a minute, but not feeling that confident. Probably going to be more like two or three. Let’s see what happens.

Let’s put sixty seconds up on the clock and let’s do this.

1. Where is the Challenge Located?

Challenge number one, when an application fails, is it the application? Is it you’re network? Is it the device itself? Is it the ISP? Because of the complexities of our networks today, it is very difficult to pinpoint where the real problem is coming from.

2. Too Much Time Troubleshooting

Challenge number two, because you don’t know where the real problem lies, you’re spending way too much time troubleshooting your network instead of focusing on supporting your end users.

3. End Users Start to Complain

And Finally, challenge number three, you’re IT team doesn’t even know there is a problem with the network until you’re already starting to field complaints from your end users.

Performance Measured in Real Time

By using performance monitoring, we’re able to measure performance in real time across your entire network path from your end users to your applications by running automated tests twenty-four by seven and proactively troubleshooting what’s happening on your network. This allows you to decrease the amount of time spent troubleshooting, accurately pinpoint where the problem is located and finally, focus on supporting your end users instead of worrying about network.

A Proactive Approach

Performance monitoring while relatively new is quickly becoming a critical piece of any successful Wi-Fi network. It allows IT to be more proactive. It allows them to automate troubleshooting and gain better visibility across their entire network path and what’s happening on their network. For the end user, they get a more consistent, more reliable experience and they get their expectations met with a Wi-Fi network that just works.
