What’s going on everybody?
Welcome back to the Wi-Fi Minute where we explain the mysteries of Wi-Fi and networking in under a minute.
For today’s topic, we’re talking about three things that every business needs to address when implementing Wi-Fi.
Alright, let’s put sixty seconds on the clock and let’s do this.
1. WiFi Design
Who is going to be in charge of designing your wireless network?
Is it going to be on you as the company?
Are you going to be relying on your hardware vendor or do you have a third party who is going to be providing professional services to do assessments, site surveys, and then obviously put together that final design?
It’s the most critical piece of this whole process so you have to get it right from the beginning.
2. Who is Going to be Installing and then Configuring Your Network?
Who is going to be running the cabling, who is going to be actually physically placing the access points in their proper location configuring the channels, the power levels?
All of the details that actually go into physically installing the network and turning everything on and making sure that it’s optimized to perform at its best.
Is that on you as the company?
Is it on again that third party or is it on that hardware vendor?
You need to make sure you have this planned out as well in order to be successful.
Hold on. Hold on. Time out.
Alright, here’s the deal.
We try to make it in under a minute every time we do one of these videos. Sometimes we don’t make it. In this case we though we had made it and we didn’t.
So, the best news about this is that there is still a lot of good info to get to so without further ado let’s get back to the video.
Alright, time in.
3. Who is Going to be Managing and Measuring the Performance of Your Network Going Forward
Wi-Fi is very dynamic. It’s a living breathing organism if you will that is changing all of the time.
You have physical external factors that change, the types of devices, the types of applications that are running on your network. All of these things are evolving constantly and it’s impacting your performance and you need to have a plan to manage that day-to-day.
So, is it going to be your internal IT team?
Is it going to be outsourced to an MSP?
You need to have a plan in place to properly manage your network to be successful.
If you’re going to be going with an MSP to manage your network going forward, we have actually put together a requirements checklist inside of a recent blog article of ours that you can access from the link below.
If you have any other questions, comments, please feel free to reach out.
Again, you guys have been great.
I’ve been Danny and we will see you next time.
