Today’s generation of students (some call them “GenMobile”), are just that, mobile. Constantly on the go and more importantly connected by wireless 100% of the time. The alarming factor here for schools is the trend of each student using more and more devices. On average, current students now use on a daily basis between 3 and 5 devices. This is challenging school IT staff everywhere to facilitate learning environments that are rich in technology. The question is not should schools bring technology into the classroom but how?

BYOD vs 1:1 in education, BYOD solutions, BYOD wireless

There are usually two possible solutions, 1:1 or BYOD in schools (Bring Your Own Device). 1:1 is basically the school providing the users (teachers, administrators and students) with the same devices. All of which will be used on the school’s wireless network. With BYOD, both students and staff are required to bring their own devices to school for use in the classroom.

Both 1:1 and BYOD have been very successful with schools large and small, making the decision for IT staff and school administrators on which solution is best pretty difficult. To help visualize this decision process, the team at SecurEdge Networks has developed a unique infographic.
